Today marks the first major Tube extension this century as two new Northern line stations, Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station, open for the first time. This is the first major expansion since the Jubilee line was extended in the late 1990s and the latest expansion on the Northern line in the last 80 years!
LSBTC, set to open in September 2022, is a pioneering and transformative project for south London. The modern, industry driven facilities will provide careerled opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds, not just from south London but from across London and beyond.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said:
“It’s fantastic news that the first new technical college in the UK will be built right here in London – and I look forward to seeing students gain the skills they need to access good jobs in the future.”
"The Northern Line extension has been a massive project for our city over the last six years, with the construction alone creating 1,000 new jobs, and the overall extension supporting around 25,000 more—plus 20,000 new homes in the area too."
Fiona Morey, Lambeth College Executive Principal, said:
“London South Bank Technical College will offer life-changing opportunities for Londoners who want to learn new skills in engineering, technology, science, dentistry, maths and digital arts. The new technical college will give students state-of-the-art facilities to learn, develop and build successful careers.”
We are looking forward to opening our doors to local and non-local residents who can now use the Northern line to get to our new campus.
