We are delighted that our Welfare Advisor and Student Union lead, Gina is in the process of planning the upcoming LGBTQ online conference on Tuesday 22 February 2022.

This year’s theme is:  “The Arc is Long” is inspired by a Martin Luther King quote:

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.

The quote is thought to mean that although it is taking a long time, we are curving/moving towards social justice and fairness.

This theme provides us with the opportunity to explore the idea of social justice and changing attitudes towards LGBT+ people. While we have come a long way in terms of inclusion and attitudes towards same gender relationships and equal marriage, there is still a great deal of work that can happen in terms of positive trans (including non-binary) representation and inclusion.

We are wanting to reach out to as many people in areas of the LGBTQ community to provide information and also have 5-6 speakers to talk about their own personal lived experiences within the LGBTQ Community, and any work which they contribute to within the LGBTQ Community.

We will be inviting guest speakers to present to our students.
