Is this course for you?

If you're aged 16-18 and speak English as a second language (ESOL), and want to improve your English skills, then this is the right course for you.

On this course you will improve your knowledge and skills in reading, writing, speaking, grammar and vocabulary, and listening. Our ESOL for Young People course is designed to help you to go on to further studies, or to find work.

There are five different levels of study, and you will have an initial assessment to make sure you start learning at the level that's right for you. Our ESOL courses also include functional skills maths and employability skills at an appropriate level. If you already have certificates in ESOL, please bring these to your assessment.

You will also have the chance to complete additional Units with our brand new Vocational Tasters for E3 and L1 groups

E3 ESOL with Creative Arts E3 ESOL with Performing Arts E3 ESOL with Sports L1 ESOL with Hospitality & Catering

E3 ESOL with Creative Arts Do you want to learn new skills, pursue your interests and be able to produce works of art that will develop your creativity and imagination? You will be able to develop your communication, creative and critical thinming skills and be able to give presentations and develop entrepreneurial and business skills. The possible career opportunities are :

  • Graphic designer

E3 ESOL with Performing Arts This subject will enable you to express yourself and develop your creativity. You will gain he tools to think creatively, innovate and appreciate diverse cultures and backgrounds. Learning music, dance and drama has wide-reaching benefits that help you explore your emotions, expand your imagination and develop your unique voice. Some common careers are:

  • Actor (stage or screen)
  • Dancer
  • Director
  • Singer
  • Stage manager
  • Teacher

E3 ESOL with Sports Do you want to work in sports and leisure industry? This course will help you develop your generic knowledge and understanding and the skills you need for your future career. You will understand some physical activities, look at fitness programmes and actively take part in gym activities. Why study ESOL with Sports?

L1 ESOL with Hospitality & Catering This industry will show you how to provide the best customer experiences and open up opportunities to travel the world. You will gain transferrable skills that you will use anywhere in the world. Over 2.5 million people are employed in hospitality and catering industry, so why not be one of them. You will be able to achieve a qualification by developing and practicing skills, knowledge and understanding in this subject. The possible career opportunities are:

  • Baker. Industrial baker, baking operative, artisan baker, craft baker
  • Bartender
  • Barista. Baristas make and serve coffee in cafes, coffee shops, restaurants and hotels.
  • Butcher
  • Butler
  • Cake decorator
  • Catering manager
  • Cellar technician

Good English and maths skills are essential. Therefore, English and maths will be compulsory subjects on this course. Once you complete your ESOL with these components, you will be better equipped to achieve on your vocational option

  • What do you need to apply?

    No formal qualifications required

    Additional Information: You will have an initial assessment in English grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

  • How will you be assessed?

    You will be assessed during class hours and will create a portfolio of work. You will also have examinations based on what you have learnt.

  • Where can this course take you?

    Once you have successfully completed your ESOL course, you may progress to a higher level of ESOL learning or into a vocational study programme.

    We advise that you need to be ESOL Level 1 to move onto a specific subject vocational qualification.
