Then this is the course for you.
The Level 1 Award in Photography is a full-time NCFE-accredited qualification that takes approximately 3 months to complete, and has been developed in collaboration with industry specialists and established photography professionals. It's designed to introduce you to the basic skills and knowledge that underpin all photography careers, and be the first step on your path to future career success.
This course will help you develop your skills in both taking and manipulating photographic images; not only covering the principles of photo image capture, but also teaching you digital image manipulation skills using Photoshop. You'll learn how to utilise your cameras settings, how to achieve consistent exposures, and how to develop your creative eye.
Taught by our industry-expert faculty at our state-of-the-art Nine Elms facility, this course is perfectly suited to learners who are looking to take their first steps towards a career in photography, looking to retrain and undertake a new career direction, or wanting to begin their educational journey in photography and advance to further qualifications.
What experience and skills will you gain?

What do you need to apply?
GCSE Maths and English qualifications (or equivalent) at grade D or 3 or above or Entry Level 1 in Maths and English plus an assessment by South Bank Colleges

How will you be assessed?
You will be continually assessed in a variety of ways including practical tasks, observations, assignments, presentations, and portfolio work.

Where can this course take you?
On successful completion of the Level 1 Award in Photography, you will receive a recognised certificate that can be a starting point for career progression in a variety of creative industries. You may even be able to seek employment in a junior/trainee photographer role.
You could also choose to further develop your knowledge and skills by advancing to higher-level creative industry or photography qualifications with South Bank Colleges.
