This course is designed for those of you who are practicing electricians, but have either not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying, or who require updated training in this essential skill.
The Level 3 Award in Inspection and Testing will help you to develop the technical knowledge and practical skills required to professionally install and carry out initial verification, and periodic inspection and testing on electrical installations.
You are expected to already have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles, and industry-experience of electrical installation work, before starting this qualification.
This is a part-time evening course, so can be fitted in around your existing work or study commitments.
What experience and skills will you gain?
You will learn a wide array of skills and tasks, all of which are vital parts of the inspection and testing process, including (but not limited to) the following examples:
- Safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
- Requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
- Requirements for testing energised installations
- Requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation
- Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
- Requirements for inspecting, testing and recording the condition of electrical installations
- Requirements for completing the periodic inspection of electrical installations
- Understand and interpret test results
- How to carry out inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
